Sermon: The Gospel of Mark

Mark is thought to be the oldest/earliest gospel of the four in the New Testament, written between 65-70 AD. Mark is used as one of the main sources in both Matthew and Luke. It is an outward focused document, written for Greek speaking gentiles rather that the insider group of Disciples and those who personally met Jesus. It is written after both Peter and Paul had been executed in Rome. Mark is the shortest gospel and reads like a face paced mystery novel until the final week when the details are more forthcoming. It should take you less than an hour to read the entire gospel this week. Homework: Read the entire Gospel of Mark.

Scripture: Mark 16: 1-8
