Peter and Carla Cottrell will be moving from First UMC Land O Lakes where he has served as Senior Pastor for the past 8 years. They will celebrate their wedding anniversary on July 6th.
Peter grew up in Cocoa, Florida and attended Florida Southern College and Duke Divinity School. He has served churches in Ft Pierce, Palm Coast, Tallahassee and Land O Lakes as well as serving in campus ministry at Florida Atlantic University.
Carla grew up in St Augustine and Tallahassee and attended the University of Florida for undergraduate school. She earned masters degrees from Florida State and St Leo. Most recently she has been an Assistant Principal in 2 different high schools in Pasco County. She was the 2012 Pasco County Teacher of the Year.
They have two children and one grandchild. Katy is married and living in Lake Worth, Florida with her husband Mike and their daughter, Maddy, who will turn 2 in the fall. Meghan will be graduating from high school and has been accepted to study Musical Theater at the New York Film Academy.
They have two rescued pets: Mellow- an all white cat, and Winnie- part Border Collie and part Dalmatian.
They love the beach, outdoor activities, reading and the arts.They are passionate about participating in many different local and global missions as well as social justice issues and look forward to living out that passion at Coronado Community UMC.
