Seeing God Face To Face
This Sunday is the beginning of the season of Advent when we prepare ourselves for the arrival of the baby – God in the flesh – named Jesus. We have been through Advent and through preparing for Christmas many times in our lives; and if we are too distracted, them we autopilot through the season. Let us all remember that this is the beginning of the scandalous moment of God’s putting on flesh. Traditionally, the Messiah (the Hebrew word for “Christ”) was an anointed one of God, but not God. Jesus is the Christ, and Christ is God. Not a King. Not a political ruler nor a Military General nor a Sports hero. This is the mysterious creator of the universe’s putting on skin and living with us.
Scripture: Exodus 33:11, Numbers 12:8
