5th Sunday After The Epiphany

Sermon Series: Earn. Save. Give.

Sermon: You Can’t Take It With You

It is hard to save. Our economy today is built on spending, not saving. We have credit cards to make spending easier, but saving feels like we are swimming against fast flowing waters. The pull of instant gratification, the seduction of a “sale,” and the siren song of “more” keep telling us we don’t have enough. One key to shifting our way of thinking is seeing ourselves as stewards, managers and overseers rather than owners and debtors. Balance of careful and wise spending with careful and wise saving and a long term point of view allows us to use our resources for love rather than loving our resources.
